The scarf continues to grow, and with growth comes new colors. I'm trying to remember if there are any other new colors that come along in this yarn. I seem to remember from the previous failed scarf that there was a point when some really thick yarn shows up. I think if that happens again I'll cut it out. It almost seemed like it didn't belong.
This yarn is really lovely to work with, and I love the i-cord edging on each side of the scarf. I think that is a great idea to incorporate into any scarf. I'll have to remember that.
It has been a while since I have made a scarf, and what I don't remember is it feeling like a takes a long time to make significant progress on it. It may be because of the length. Anyway, I really enjoy the pattern. I think it showcases the colors well.
Progress on the other projects: I'm still working on the cuff of the sock and I haven't even started the sweater. That sweater scares me!
For school we're reading Pippi in the South Seas. This is Alex's first exposure to Pippi Longstockng and he's getting a kick out of it. Since the book was written in 1959, he's also getting a taste of some of the cultural points of view of the time. For instance, in the first chapter a man is wanting to buy some property. When he hears that the owner is a woman he thinks he'll get a deal because women don't understand business. In another chapter, the next door neighbor says that children should be seen and not heard. Alex just shakes his head and he wonders what the author was thinking.
