As much as I love creative, delicious food, I equally enjoy a creative, delicious drink. We have dabbled a bit with creating our own limoncello and sangria, but that's as far as we have gone.
When we had our 15 pound box of cherries, I thought we should try cherry infused vodka. Well, the result was so delicious that we decided to try it with blackberries and another round of cherries!
Here's what we did...
First, pit a bunch of cherries to fill the bottom of your container.
In our first batch, we used Rainier cherries, which made a very light colored vodka. As you can see, in our second batch we used Bing cherries.
Next, pick a vodka that you like (it doesn't have to be super expensive - you'll be enhancing the flavor) and pour it over your cherries. Let this sit for about a week, giving your cherries a swirl once a day.
Once your (almost) week is up, strain the vodka back into the original bottle. It can be stored in the freezer until you want to use it.
Finally, enjoy a delicious drink, such as this:
1 part vodka
3 parts ginger ale
3 splashes of bitters
Twist of lime
Go to a happy place!
